The Blackwell FlyCatchers used strong pitching and a three-run fifth inning to defeat the North
Platte 80s 4-1 on June 4, 2026.
Blackwell struck first in the third inning when Joseph Boone singled to left field, scoring Griffin
Rowe to give the FlyCatchers a 1-0 lead.
The FlyCatchers added three more runs in the fifth inning. Dario Paredes singled home Shane Morrow,
and Caleb Marquez followed with a two-run home run to extend the lead to 4-0.
Trey Watson was outstanding on the mound for Blackwell, throwing a complete game while allowing just
one run on two hits. Watson struck out seven and walked three over nine innings.
North Platte’s only run came in the ninth inning when Tommy Ramos hit a solo home run. Ramos
finished with both of the 80s’ hits and drove in their lone run.
Blackwell finished with nine hits. Trey Watson helped his own cause with two hits, while Griffin
Rowe also added two hits and scored a run. Caleb Marquez drove in two runs with his home run.
North Platte starter Zach Byron allowed four runs over five innings while striking out seven. Austin
Salemi and Grant LaBelle combined for three scoreless innings of relief.
The FlyCatchers held North Platte scoreless through the first eight innings and closed out the 4-1
win behind Watson’s complete-game performance.
