Alonso’s Grand Slam Lifts Blackwell Past Trinidad, 7-4
BLACKWELL, Oklahoma —
Michael Alonso hit a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning as
the Blackwell Flycatchers rallied to defeat the Trinidad Triggers, 7-4, on July 18, 2026.
Trinidad opened the scoring in the top of the second inning.
Brice Cagle reached safely before
Miguel Rosado launched a two-run home run, giving the Triggers an early 2-0 advantage.
Blackwell answered in the bottom of the inning when
Angel Rodriguez hit a solo home run. The score
remained 2-1 until the sixth, when Rodriguez struck again with a two-run homer that scored Shane
Morrow and moved the Flycatchers ahead, 3-2.
The Triggers tied the game in the seventh inning when
Kelii Price scored on a Blackwell error.
Trinidad then regained the lead in the top of the eighth when Price lifted a sacrifice fly that
brought
Wyatt Morgan home for a 4-3 advantage.
Blackwell produced the decisive rally in the bottom of the eighth. Rodriguez walked, Caleb Marquez
also reached and
Joseph Boone entered as a pinch runner. Alonso then cleared the bases with a grand
slam, putting the Flycatchers ahead, 7-4.
Rodriguez led Blackwell’s offense by going 2-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored, three RBIs
and a walk. Alonso finished 1-for-2 with two walks and four RBIs.
Kabrel Johnson added two hits,
including a double, while
Shane Morrow scored once and recorded a hit.
Brody Rasmussen paced Trinidad with two hits and a stolen base. Rosado went 1-for-2 with his two-run
homer and also started on the mound, allowing one run on four hits over five innings. He struck out
four and walked two.
Blackwell starter
Cason Long worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits.

Isidro Jimenez recorded two outs in relief before George
